Amselgrund schlösschen in Rathen

We spontaneously stayed one night in the Amselgrundschlößchen and ate in the restaurant in the evening. All employees were friendly, even if the waiters were a bit "rough". The rooms were clean, but just like the restaurant rather old-fashioned. The food was solid, but nowhere near a highlight. Unfortunately the food was way too expensive for what was on offer. If you include the side salad (€ 6.50 for mainly corn, beans, etc. from the can) all main courses cost over € 20. With such sums more must come! The same applies to the overnight stay. Thanks to the really extensive breakfast I opted for the 3-star, otherwise it would unfortunately only have been enough for 2-stars due to the significantly too high prices. Unfortunately, I cannot understand the assessment of one or the other previous speaker at all. PS: The internet is brutally slow. But you should certainly not blame the hotel on your own

Good food. Not much vegetarian choices, but overall good experience. Matjesfilet hausfrauenart is with Raw fish. I was not aware of that. But they kindly obliged and helped with alternative dish and didn't charge us for that. Appreciate that.. !!

We stayed here as part of a hike to the Malerweg. The hotel is perfectly fine. One drawback is the staff in the restaurant. You get the feeling that you are not welcome and the employees make a stressed impression.

Unfortunately, you don't know your own Corona measures here ... In the menu you are asked to pay contactless, on the bill the waiter said that this is only possible from 40 euros. Our bill, which he only told us orally, was "only" 32 euros. And that is only possible in cash! He said no whether I would receive an invoice, he only had it on his device. Fortunately, he was persuaded to hand them over to us. But that takes time, he said ... 1 minute later he gave it to us without comment. What is that good for?

Sadly no spa due to corona but a great place to stay.

Very nice staff and nice ambience. The rooms are clean and spacious. Unfortunately, the organization in Corona times could be a little better for breakfast and the sauna.

I can only agree with most of the previous speakers. After a hiking excursion, we wanted to strengthen ourselves here. Due to the "new" rules we waited in the entrance for a waitress to be seated. They looked at us from afar, but there was no greeting or something like that. So we sat down at a table ourselves without being asked. Then they brought us the menu, with the note that the meal of the day menu (2 p.m., the restaurant is open until evening) was already over. Well. There is still enough choice. We are also aware that it costs a little more in a tourist area. But when I get served a fryer schnitzel for just under 17 €, that's a cheek. In addition, the service is not the friendliest. It's a shame, actually

Unfortunately very bad service in the restaurant area. The service is slow, you wait until you get a seat despite the many empty tables. The service does not pay any attention, even to pay we had to wait over 15 minutes and ask several times despite the low traffic.

Very friendly staff, extensive breakfast, idyllic location and the rooms were well-kept and clean. Dinner very good. We had a sufficiently large handicapped room. If the bathroom had been a little bigger it would have been given the highest rating.

We were on the outside terrace today on September 5th, 2020 at lunchtime and wanted to order for lunch. There was already a menu at our table. After waiting a quarter of an hour, where the waitress walked past us twice, we got up and left. What a shame! Also no note that the outside terrace is not served or the like. could be seen.

Price / performance ratio is unfortunately not right at all. Pros: Nice sauna area, nice reception from a gentleman Cons: 160 Eur / night for a room that would be worth a maximum of 80. How this price justifies itself is a mystery to us. In the evening when eating, nobody cared about Corona distance or masks. No waitress wore mouth and nose protection. The prices for dinner were also rather high, whereby the dishes were ordinary, but good - but here, too, the price / performance ratio was not right for us. What annoyed us most was the lack of corona protection. At breakfast you are not allowed to help yourself, but a lady serves the food from the buffet. Unfortunately, the lady only wore the face mask as an accessory. A young colleague who brought the eggs didn't carry anything, but sniffed his hand directly while he was reloading the scrambled eggs. If you ask such a high price, you should also deliver quality and hygiene.

The hotel room was rustic, clean and well-kept - only very badly soundproofed, even with the window closed. Something for everyone at the breakfast buffet, great offer. The service staff of the restaurant was also very friendly. I tried the restaurant dinner twice in the evening. The trout is really recommended. The cook is a genius.

Three days of short vacation that were worth it. The room - very rustic, was clean, tidy and well maintained. It was a bit too noisy to sleep, even with the window closed. The restaurant was terrific from the service to the buffet to the food. Seldom eaten so delicious.

The hotel and the food as such are very good, but 80% of the employees clearly state that they really don't care. We spent 5 days there, the reception contact with the woman was okay, even if not particularly friendly, but we felt totally rejected by the gentleman who did the check-in and we felt a bit foolish. It turned out that the gentleman also sets the tone in the restaurant and his style probably rubbed off on other employees there too. When I wanted to ask for a table, the man phoned and I waited decently and looking for eye contact. (3 meters away, in front of him) When he was finished with his phone call, he turned his back on me and tried to disappear. I hurried after him and got a table, visibly disgusted, thank God I was a house guest, others were worse off. Even if we had to wait a little longer to get rid of our drink request, the rest of the restaurant visit was okay and the food was of high quality. Nevertheless, one cannot rest on the mention of a 10-year-old mention in the Michelin Guide. Thank goodness they don't rate the friendliness either. At breakfast it was 50/50, a blonde lady was always very nice, never seemed stressed, although there was a lot to do and always had a smile on her face and then there was a young, dark-haired woman ... her day was probably Already started putting on her work clothes and she wanted everyone to know. Now I thought that I might be a bit sensitive, but other guests were also very enthusiastic about the staff and my personal highlight was when I sat on the balcony at around 8 p.m. and an apparently equally enthusiastic hotel employee happily rode his bike to the supplier's entrance cycled, threw his bike at them with a loud roar and entered the hotel camp with his sunny disposition. Dear "Team" from Amselgrundschlösschen, you have a nice hotel, lots of guests and great food, maybe you can go hiking for an hour every week and then let yourself smile.

The restaurant itself was clean and nice. The service okay and the food was one of the best I have eaten in a restaurant in Rathen. But still it isn't that good as I have expected from the food. Certainly one of the best of the restaurants in Rathen. Still, I would have expected a little more taste. Service was ok.

Very nice hotel with good food

My review is about the restaurant ONLY. We had reserved a table for dinner at short notice, which worked out well. We were led to a dirty table with used glasses and cutlery, which then remained there for the time being and was only taken away by the waitress when we asked for our order. The table was not cleaned beforehand, and the staff was a bit overwhelmed, as something went wrong with the orders at the surrounding tables. The taste of the food was okay / good and also plentiful.

Almost 5, the service was not that good. No hello, just put the card and later only "what do you want?". Eat simply delicious. Finally a restaurant with a real vegetarian alternative. The spinach dumplings were better than most Berlin restaurants! It was a culinary delight!

Slept here for 2 nights. Everything okay. Clean and orderly. Good breakfast. But did not leave a lasting impression overall. More expensive than the neighboring pensions, which were unfortunately fully booked, but not better.

So far everything was fine. My seasoned meat was at the table, already very cool. In my wife's wild garlic spaghetti, the wild garlic just ran past. Service was fine. The view is simply beautiful. But is just because of the environment.

Very good place! Just add croissants and sausages at breakfast and it's 4 stars hotel, not 3! Stuff is very friendly, rooms are clean and cosy, breakfast and dinner at the restaurant is good but can be better.

Comfy beds, easy to find, great breakfast. Unfortunately there was no room for us at the hotel restaurant for dinner that evening and we weren't told to reserve when we arrived, so we had to go and find somewhere else to eat. Other than that all good. On a side note, hotels in Germany don't seem to have kettles as standard, could have murdered a sachet of 3 year old instant coffee on arrival.

Very nice room with a renovated bathroom. Great location and the sauna is great after a long day of hiking taking one of many trails is the surrounding area. A comment for foreigners, the saunas are mixed and full nudity, which is common for Germany. The breakfast buffet was excellent however the restaurant only average, we ended up eating dinner at other close by places instead of at the hotel.

We were there for lunch before the hiking and for a coffee after the hiking. The mushrooms were delicious and the Cappuccino as well. Good quality food.

Very good restaurant

Went here for a conference ages ago. It was excellent: people are professional and very helpful. Rooms are good, too. It is nice and quute even though it is located next to the main tourist route to Bastei. Returned last weekend for a hiking tour. Had a coffee at this place and it has not changed. Everybody is very polite, pofessional and busily working to fulfill your needs.

We had to wait 20 minutes just for drinks.

The hotel was well-located in town: easy to find with nice views all around. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and willing to go the extra mile. The breakfast was wonderful as was the food in the restaurant.

The breakfast was amazing. The staff was incredibly helpful. We had some confusion with out tour and they sorted it out for us. Also great location. The trail to the Bastei is right across from the hotel. They also have English menus and the staff we encountered were good with English. We were happy to try to speak German but when things get confusing it can be reassuring to have some English as an option.

It was great. Even though we don't understand the menu in German, the waiter tried his best to explain dishes in English and he served us so gentle and nice. We ordered beef steak and beef pasta, and they were delicious enough for me to recommend my friends to go there.
